Hi Adam, Kevin, and Kyle,
I've been a listener for a year or so now. I think I started last year around the end of the 2022/23 season and before the 2023 draft. I have to say, your #2 behind the official chargers podcast with Matt "Money" Smith and Chris Hayre, but don't worry, it is a very close 2nd. I do listen to many others, but enjoy yours because it matches the fandom that I am, with more 'lamen' talk rather than full blown football nerd analytics type stuff that goes well over my head like a couple others.
Anywho, something I've noticed over the past couple weeks since the draft is our excitement over our draft picks, the amount of free agents we've signed (including UDFAs), and how we all seem to be in some fairytale mindset that we're going to have so many beasts on our team. I think, we're at about 88 rostered players now, from what Daniel Popper shared last week. We need to remember there will need to be cuts down to 53. Even Matt "Money" Smith showed a little concern and questions how many receivers we're going to keep on the roster, saying that the coaching staff and new Chargers culture seems to want to be a rush heavy offense. With all these new signings, especially in the Wide Reciever room, we NEED to be ready for some heartbreak after a huge competition in camp for however many Wide Receivers we're going to keep. There might be a few of our current favorites right now that get cut, and might get signed to other teams before we can sign them to the practice squad. Are you 3 consciously getting ready for that? Just keep it all in mind, because we need to remember that some of the cuts to the 53 Man Roster are going to hurt, and quite possible in our Wide Reciever room. It would suck to have to cut one of the 7th round picks and not get them back on the practice squad at least due to those types of things. It's going to be a hard decision for the coaches, and a big competition in camp, so get ready! I'm excited and scared for it.
